In 1922 it constructed an auditorium on the property, connected by a corridor to the mansion, which could accommodate the organization's 600 members.
The auditorium is no longer there, however.
in the 1940s when opera singer Mary Cardwell Dawson rented space there for the National Negro Opera Company. It was home to the National Negro Opera Company – the first permanent African-American opera company in the nation (Pittsburg City Paper)
