Colonel Adam N. Schuster, the original occupant of this home, was born on January 1,st 1937 and passed away on August 22, 1912. He is buried at Mount Mora Cemetery in St Joseph Missouri. Colonel Schuster was one of the representative men of St. Joseph, and the growing West. In 1866, he engaged in mercantile business for himself. For the next six years he was very active and enterprising in the retail trade, being connected with four different stores. At the end of that time he started a wholesale company, and in 1872 he went into the wholesale men's clothing business under the firm name of Schuster, Ketcham and Co. In addition he was connected with the bank of Schuster, Hax and Co., was president of four Kansas banks, and was interested in stock raising in Texas and Arizona.
